Around 2pm on Saturday 29th August 2009 members of the club started arriving at Glencorse Golf Club in anticipation of our annual golf event. The course had been block booked for the four teams to battle out a Texas Scramble. The weather was good, the mood was relaxed. The 3pm tee time was fast approaching. With final preparations in place, the team photo was taken and then the games began.

First off was Jean, John and Bill. Confident off the tee, the standard looked high. The three "R's" (careful how you say that) were off next, Roger, Reg and Ronnie. With the Club President sporting a retro golf bag the team appeared to have the experience necessary. Jim, Dave and Paul were next up and the standard was set. A beautiful chip from Dave resulted in a two at the first. Colin, Graham and Robert were last to leave, pleased that there was nobody left to watch them go.

The odd cheer and celebration could be heard as the teams made their way round. There was a lot of rough, lots of sand and lots of water. And the odd fairway. Gradually one by one each team made their up to the 18th, starting to predict how their score would compare.

Then it was back to the clubhouse where other members of the Curling Club had arrived to join the players for drinks, dinner, stories and the all important awards ceremony. With the leaderboard kept a secret the scores were annouced one by one.....

• 1st Place (Score of 70) - Jim, David and Paul
• 2nd Place (Score of 73) - Roger, Reg and Ronnie
• 3rd Place (Score of 74) - Bill, John and Jean
• 4th Place (Score of 84) - Colin, Graham and Robert
